{GIVEAWAY} Flowers for Mum this Mother’s Day

5th May 2015

We all love our Mums. Especially during these special times when she’s right by your side, helping with wedding gown shopping, joining in on crafternoons, being your wingman at all the bridal expos and always there with an honest opinion that’s meant from the heart at your wedding makeup and hair trial.  I bet one of her absolute fave parts of this whole wedding-planning caper is the florist consultations. Mums just love flowers! The lovely Nat from Heavenly Blooms knows all too well how deeply Mums adore beautiful blooms, so she has kindly agreed to donate one of her own…

Real Wedding: Cassie + Sam at Point Cartwright

30th April 2015

Long-time locals, Sam and Cassie, felt a deep connection to Point Cartwright having grown up with so many memories tied to the place, so they could think of no better place to wed.  Their wedding theme was a classic shabby chic beach affair with mint blue, whites, and neutrals with aged wood, baby’s breath and white wash furniture. Cassie says there was no debate over the theme, as both were on the same page, unable to picture their special day any other way.  Janneke Storm captured each splendid moment.  “I am so lucky to have had my Mum come to…

Engaged: Penny and Nathan with Puppies!

29th April 2015

Puppies! We love puppies and love, and indeed puppy love, here at The Bride’s Tree. How gorgeous are Frankie and Archie, the French Bulldog fur babies of Penny and Nathan. So deeply adored are these pooches, that their parents phoned their photographer, Tanya, of Chesterton Smith Photography, to ask if it was alright to bring them along to their engagement shoot on the Sunshine Coast. Unsurprisingly, it was a resounding yes from Tanya!  I don’t know about you, but I adore Penny’s dress as much as this pup. Want to see more from this amazing shoot? Yes, of course you…

Real Wedding: Adrielle & Jehutha at Coolum Beach

27th April 2015

Adrielle and Jehutha are two beautiful people who really make us smile. Their gorgeous wedding took place at Coolum Beach, and there were definitely smiles all round at their union. Coolum Beach Surf Club was the venue they chose for the absolute waterfront views, and they celebrated with the sound of waves close by. Have a look at their photos by Britt Emma Photography and just try not to smile. Try and fail hard, my friends. ////

Behind the Scenes: Wedding Day with Florist Willow Bud

23rd April 2015

Sandi Shankster, owner Willow Bud, has her own little secret garden, and runs a well-oiled machine with her wedding floristry business. Business is blooming, you might say… boom tish. We followed Sandi around like an annoying little sister and hounded her with questions on a busy wedding day morning to find out just what it’s like to work behind-the-scenes providing all the pretty. Photos by Simon J Coulson.  Sandi, what does a busy wedding day morning look like in the Willow Bud studio? On this particular day we had four weddings on, three of the four weddings had ceremony and reception…

Poppies for ANZAC Centenary

22nd April 2015

This Saturday, April 25 2015, as many brides and grooms celebrate their marital unions; the joining of families and a day all about love, we also celebrate our ANZACs and the sacrifice they made for the freedoms we enjoy today. This year it’s particularly poignant, as it is the centenary of the landing at Gallipoli.  Sunshine Coast brides will be paying tribute this weekend by incorporating the red poppy flower, the symbol of diggers, into their bridal bouquets, centrepieces and other arrangements.  Photos by Andrea Sproxton Photography.  Even if you have a predominantly white or pastel palette in mind for…

Blank Canvas Reception Venue

21st April 2015

As a writer, I love a blank page. That moment before I start typing, before I even know where my fingers hovering above the keyboard will take me is my favourite. I take a deep breath, sometimes pause a moment, and then something happens – my mind clicks in, and it all starts coming out. Sometimes in small parts, sometimes it starts with one idea or concept and grows. Sometimes is floods uncontrollably, and I need to take a moment to gather myself and organise my waves of thoughts crashing into my consciousness.  This is why I love Maleny Retreat….

Engaged: Bec + Paul in the Forest

20th April 2015

When Paul took Bec to the Palazzo Versace for their sixth anniversary (swanky Paul, nicely done!), the little lady got more than she expected. The rose petals, candles and champagne were present, romancing up the joint, but the heartfelt proposal that followed took things to the next level.  Adriana Watson shot this earthy, organic engagement shoot in a local pine forest. Bec and Paul are due to wed at Spicers Clovelly later this year.  View Bec and Paul’s full engagement shoot album.

Real Wedding: Hayley + Wade in Booroobin

19th April 2015

Level-headed bride, Hayley, has some great advice for brides-to-be, saying, “At the end of the day, you are the only one that knows what you wanted to do, so don’t stress if you don’t get everything done.” And she should know how it goes to have a long stretch of to-do list to get through, having planned an almost entirely DIY wedding at Booroobin property, Sweetwater Cottage, in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. Her now-husband, Wade, was part of the process too, and is quite proud of his Gumtree find of a dancefloor to set up for the entirely outdoors wedding….
