GLASS HOUSE MOUNTAINS MICRO WEDDING | Nikki + Shane

What is a Glass House Mountains micro wedding without a few show-stopping surprises?

Upon arrival at Nikki and Shane’s wedding, guests were blown away by the backdrop that loomed beyond them. At the base of Mount Coonowrin, the couple said their vows surrounded by their closest loved ones and a burst of colour in their ceremony floral arrangements.

It was the bride’s turn to be surprised next as her parents made her dream of having a beautiful horse at her wedding a reality. Although, she was merely expectedly thrilled to see the final result of her reception styling, because Nikki planned and styled everything. From the tablescape to the fairy lights tunnel that magically encapsulated the catered dinner celebration.

A micro wedding is considered to be around 20-50 guests. Nikki and Shane invited just 30 of their favourite people to their Glass House Mountains micro wedding.

Read on as wedding stylist Nikki shares her wedding planning secrets, and see the stunning images captured by her fave Sunshine Coast wedding photographer, Zoe from Worth Photography

Why We Wanted to Get Married on The Sunshine Coast

We live on the Sunshine Coast, a beautiful location with stunning views right in our own backyard. The Sunshine Coast has amazing mountain views, which was Shane’s wish, so it was perfect. Additionally, most of our family and friends are local, and we didn’t want to inconvenience them with the costs of travel and accommodation.

Stand Out Wedding Vendors

Zoe from Worth Photography and Say it with Lights made our wedding truly special. Having Zoe as our wedding photographer was amazing; we’ve done several family shoots with her before, and she just gets us. She made us feel comfortable and not rushed, and we laughed a lot—it all felt very natural. Zoe is like a friend. Say it with Lights was incredible. Our fairy light tunnel was breathtakingly beautiful.

Our Biggest Wedding Planning Priority

To make it about us and what we wanted and not what society and everyone else was expecting. This was our day and we only wanted to celebrate it with out closest friends and family.

The Greatest Challenge We Faced

It was incredibly difficult to find a venue that would allow a micro wedding on a Saturday without a minimum guest requirement. Most places didn’t even want to consider us because we wanted fewer than 60 people and a Saturday wedding. Apparently, micro weddings are typically only permitted on weekdays, which is quite disappointing.

How We Met

We met online dating. I was at uni at the time during uni break and my friend and I decided we would try online dating for a month. The month went by when I came across Shane’s profile, and what do you know – we hit it off straight away. He was just so different from all the other guys. Our first date went for 6 hours, and the rest is history.

The Proposal

One morning we decided to go shopping; Shane was acting so weird and was barely talking, plus he wanted to drive. I was getting angry at him as I had no idea why he was acting so strange. We are driving home when he says did you see how high the tide is, lets go check it out. We arrived at the beach where a cute little picnic set-up was waiting for us. It was perfect and very romantic!

Why I Decided To Marry Him

I married Shane because he’s my soulmate and better half. He’s an amazing man, and an even better father to our beautiful son! I genuinely wouldn’t want to do life with anyone else. He brings out the best in me, he’s very kind and supportive, and he always goes above and beyond for his family.

Shane makes me feel loved and cherished every single day. His dedication and commitment to our family are truly inspiring. I’m so grateful to share my life with someone who complements me perfectly and motivates me to be my best. Shane’s love and support are the foundation of our relationship, and I look forward to many more happy years together.

Glasshouse Mountains Micro Wedding Secrets

Biggest wedding splurge: Flowers – we doubled our flower budget and we are so grateful we did!

Biggest money-saver: Styling my wedding myself… But if I could do one thing differently, I wouldn’t style my own wedding, as much as I enjoyed it! I was running around all morning setting everything up to make sure it was perfect but I was so tired by the end of the day I just wanted to go to sleep.
