Read on to learn more about Jacqueline’s business, what her job entails as an experienced and knowledgeable wedding expert. With almost 10 years working in Sunshine Coast weddings, her passion for the industry, inside knowledge and long list of happy clients make working with her an absolute dream.

She’s one of our absolute favourite people in this industry with a beautiful energy you can discover for yourself this very weekend! Details below.

Jacqueline, what does Wild Heart Weddings offer?

We offer customised wedding planning and coordination packages to suit couples needs, making sure they’re only paying for the services they require. Our focus is strongly on keeping couples (and their families) stress free!

What does a typical day on the job as a Wedding Planner/Coordinator?

Well where do I begin! Our day starts will arriving on site, greeting the couple or at least the bride (if they’re staying in site), collecting anything we need from them, heading to the ceremony and reception locations, make sure suppliers know where to set up when they arrive, assist everyone as much as possible and ensure everything is set up and ready to go before guests arrive.

Once guests start to arrive, we collect cards/gifts, give directions to the bar, bathroom and answer any other questions guests have. Ceremony time! We usher the guests to the ceremony area, help them find their seats and ensure the musician and celebrant are ready.

From here we collect the bridal girls (take sure they have tissues), coordinate her grand entrance and the ceremony. When the ceremony concludes we focus on relocating guests to the canapé/reception area before turning our focus on relocating flowers, welcome signs and anything else from the ceremony area to the reception then make sure the reception runs smoothly.

In a nut shell, we focus on the couple and guests, to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves, being there when we need it, coordinating with vendors throughout out the day, as well as moving things around and making sure the day is flowing smoothly.

We assist the MC and guide them as to when it is their time to shine, help get guests in the bus (if there is one) at the end of the night and pack down the reception so it is easy for the vendors to return and collect their items, or the couple to take their items home. Anything and everything that needs to be done in the day – we will do.

What’s something people might be surprised to learn about being a Wedding Coordinator and Wedding Planner?

It’s not as ‘glamourous’ as people think. Over the years a few people have commented saying ‘oh my goodness it must be so glamourous’. It can be, but it’s definitely not.

The constant back and forth emails between suppliers and clients, negotiating prices and changing quotes, dealing with anything and everything the day will throw at you, rain, hail, mud, abusive/drunk guests, clogged toilets, stray animals.

We are there on the day to make sure everything runs smoothly and the couple (and their friends and family) remain stress free and enjoy themselves – this means we’re often working behind the scenes or in the dark (literally) to make sure everything goes off without a hitch. And you know what? I wouldn’t want it any other way!

What do your happy clients always say after having worked with you?

There is generally always mention of, ‘amazing from day one’, always being there when they needed something, calm and relaxed on the day, and of course – keeping the couple stress free in the lead up to and on the day.

Prior to working in the wedding industry, what did you do? Did it help you prepare for what you do now? If so, how?

I’ve been working on the hospitality industry for 15 years which has given me a strong focus on customer service and business management. I definitely feel like this has helped me prepare for the wedding industry as not only does a lot of our work focus on people and customer service, but I also have a great background on how kitchens, bars and businesses work.

This experience has helped me build the skills I have today, and allows me to create realistic timelines, communicate appropriately with guests and suppliers and remain stress free and calm throughout the whole wedding day and wedding planning process.

Now, let’s learn about YOU, Jacqueline. What’s something people may not know about you personally?

I’m 30 years old, married with a young baby and I grew up on a catamaran! I spent the first four years of my life living on a Catamaran called ‘C’est La Vie’ with my parents, travelling between the Sunshine Coast and the Whitsundays.

How would you spend a day off on the Sunshine Coast?

Oh this is a tough one because there are so many amazing places on the coast. Because we have a new baby, things are slightly different (although we’re still foodies!) So I would say I would be heading with my baby and husband up to the hinterland for the day.

We’d start with a coffee (any a cheeky on the go breakfast) from Local Social Forest Glen then head up to Maleny. We’d stop at Mary Cairncross Park for a walk through the rainforest, head to Maleny for a Ploughmans plate from Maleny Food Co., followed by a gelato (crème caramel is my favourite).

We’d then go for a scenic drive through Mapleton and Montville, ending it with a burger and beer at Rick’s Garage in Palmwoods.
