The lovely Hayley Shum of Wholehearted Studio Photography & Styling is our guest blogger today, who is terribly clever when it comes to styling weddings and events. You may remember her as the lovely lady who creatively designed The Bride's Tree bridal expo stand and styled portraits of our team.
For Hayley, it's all about the little details, like bombonieres – or wedding favours – for your guests. We have asked Miss Hayley to go on a search for some special little trinkets in local Sunshine Coast stores. Today's is perfect for your Sunshine Coast beach wedding. Take it away, Hayley…
The gesture of giving wedding favours or bombonieres at weddings is one that has been around for a long time.
In my research I found out that some of the earliest ones given at weddings date back as far as the 16th century in England. The bride and groom would give knotted ribbons or lace to their guest as a symbol of their loving bond for one another.
Fast forward a few more centuries to when my Mum and Dad got married during the rocking 1970’s in suburbia Brisbane, Australia; where I am told the thing to do was give sugar coated almonds wrapped in tulle and tied with a colour coordinated ribbon.
But the times are a-changing, and budgets have gotten bigger and Brides and Grooms alike are putting more priority on the good old faithful wedding favour; and gone are the days of the same old same old. Today’s ‘Mr-and-Mrs-To-Be’ are looking for gifts that reflect not only their wedding, but them as a couple.
So with this in mind, over the coming months I will be on a mission to track down some of the coolest of cool wedding favour finds for a variety of budgets, that I will source locally from some of my favourite independent boutiques and stores here on the Sunshine Coast.
Today’s feature is one I have used twice now for favours at weddings and they never cease to get the guests gushing. These adorable message in a bottle favours are from gorgeous store Willow & Bird in Cotton Tree and priced from only $5.99 these are lovely keepsakes for your guests.
Styled on a napkin or plate at a table setting these would be the perfect favour for a beach wedding.
But the great news is I am told Willow & Bird will be able to do special prices for bulk wedding orders! They can also arrange for you to purchase these empty for you to put your own message in should you wish to personalise it to your day.
And if you knot with twine the scroll yourself you will be including a 16th century age old tradition in there as well! Who would have known?
