Judy Copley says when she creates a dress for a bride, ultimately it’s the interactions she has with the bride, conversing and learning about her personality that shape her dress. Judy Copley Bridal, located here on the Sunshine Coast, is the birthplace of one-of-a-kind wedding gowns with the originality and flair that can only be attributed to designer, Judy Copley. Each of her gowns weaving its own story as Judy lovingly and skilfully creates her coveted couture bridal gown designs.
Here is the story of a very special wedding dress…
When planning her wedding, bride Bessie found inspiration in Judy’s own daughter’s wedding dress, created some years earlier. Bessie loved the figure-hugging design, and when Judy explains her process, it’s evident why her gowns fit her brides like a glove.
“The lace is drawn to perfectly highlight her figure. I piece different kinds of lace together, reinventing it to something completely original.” Judy says.
In fact, to create Bessie’s dress, Judy used four different kinds of lace – corded, guipure, braid and lattice lace, as well as tulle to create those sweet capped sleeves.
Explains Judy, “We decided to add the sleeves after nailing other details, like the train length, as we went. In the end it helped to balance out the design.”
Finally, Judy made Bessie’s tulle veil to match her dream couture wedding dress.
