It’s been five years since we launched The Bride’s Tree with our very first blog article, so I thought I’d take a moment to tell you all a little about us, and how we came to be.
Five years ago we first hit the scene publicly, but Jenny and I (Sally) had long been working on the site. Having both previously worked in the tourism industry wearing khaki for most of our professional lives, the idea of stepping into the prettiest of girly-girl industries was rather appealing! Our combined backgrounds in marketing, events, PR and publishing came in handy when conjuring up the concept and researching the industry, however the online world was a bit of a first for both of us.
I had been beauty blogging a little while in a very casual fashion, but really was like everybody starting an online business back then – figuring it out as I went along. Jenny and I went on a mission to thoroughly educate ourselves in blogging, SEO, web design and social media. Of course this is an ongoing pursuit, because frankly the Mark Zuckerbergs of the world are too darn clever and keep moving the line on us all, right?!
When we launched we did so without warning. We simply appeared on the scene in completion, mostly because once we were all set up, we wanted nothing more than to just get out there and show everyone what we had been working on for so long. The response from the local wedding industry was incredible and we will always be grateful to the Sunshine Coast wedding industry for welcoming us with open arms, and for understanding what we aimed to achieve. That we set out to help local businesses achieve success, to help brides find the right people to create their dream day, and to help ourselves to a career that allowed us flexible hours to spend more time with our children, as well as enjoyable and meaningful work.
Five years on we are still pinching ourselves that we get to do what we do! A huge thanks goes out to all the beautiful brides, who read our work and meet our Bride’s Tree family, and to those who trust us to help them with their businesses. Of course the biggest thanks goes to our families, who have supported us through this dream and celebrated every success with us along the way.
Cheers to all of you, and cheers to us, too!
