They met in tap dance class, and managed to dance their way right into one another’s hearts. After a well-choreographed proposal, they shuffled down the aisle after a whirlwind wedding planning feat.
With only eight weeks up their sleeve, Sally and Jamie managed to put together a super stylish luxury elopement in the always romantic Sunshine Coast hinterland.
One of their biggest priorities was to ensure they took the time to learn a tap dance to perform at their reception, choreographed by former Tap Dog, Bill Simpson! (This dance geek is fan girling so hard right now!)
The Proposal
“Jamie is originally from London and in true British fashion proposed under a portrait of Isaac Newton. It was only when he dropped to one knee that I realised the gravity of the situation.”
Fast-tracked Elopement
“We had never seen the venue before we booked it, we had Googled elopements in Queensland and found Maleny Manor. We planned it in a short time, so we had to be very organised. We stayed in Noosa and travelled to Maleny on the day.”

A Day of Big Emotions
“The ceremony was very emotional and overwhelming! We also had a lot of emotions throughout the dance and speeches and in the morning leading up to the ceremony, it’s hard to pin point one moment as it all felt exhilarating.”

Wedding Secrets
Biggest splurge: Our wedding dance! We met in tap dance class so we had one of my close friends (Choreographer and former Tap Dog, Bill Simpson) choreograph a number for our special day. We learnt it mostly via video and it was a fun and challenging experience. It really made the day special.
Best money-saver: To elope! We kept the wedding very small and planned it in a very short 8 weeks! We would have loved to have made a big event of it in many respects but it felt right to do it as we did. We also did e-invites so we saved on paper.

Unforgettable Moments
“We’ll never forget the best man’s speech. He flew over from England and surprised Jamie, and he made the day especially memorable with his speech.
“Although it was a lot of work and challenging, learning and performing our tap dance really brought us closer together in the lead up the wedding and on the day. It made the day even more fun. Even now we often starting mimicking the dance randomly at home and it makes us smile.”
