Charlie loves Chris | Scottish Wedding on the Sunshine Coast

It isn’t always easy living over the other side of the world from the familiar, but Scottish doctors, Charlie and Chris, have made Australia their home.

For their Noosa wedding, they brought a little bit of home with them. The groom wore a kilt right on Noosa beach – as did the couple’s gorgeous fur baby! While the bride wore a stunning form-fitting low-back gown, we’re not sure who would have turned more heads!

Finding the Dream Team

“We used the Bride’s Tree to find vendors including celebrant, photographer, hair and make up artists and styling company. We stumbled across Taylor Moss the night before our wedding on Hastings Street and loved her music so much we asked if she would play at our wedding the next day and amazingly she agreed!”

Noosa Wedding Location

“We visited Noosa in the first few months after moving to Australia. We fell in love with the atmosphere and beauty of the area. We were quite homesick at the time and it reminded us why we had made the big move. We then took every opportunity we could to visit and made many happy memories there over the years. It was an easy decision to get married there.”

Wedding Day Surprise

“Chris surprised me by having our cocker spaniel arrive at the drinks reception wearing a puppy kilt. It was the best surprise and my favourite moment of the whole day.”

Most Emotional Moment

“We wrote our own vows and it meant so much standing in such a beautiful location surrounded by our loved ones reading our personalised vows to each other.”

Stand-out Suppliers

Bonnie Jenkins is a phenomenal photographer, we felt incredibly lucky to have her capture our special day. She is just the loveliest person and made us feel completely at ease in front of the camera. Natalie and Ceri (Evalyn Parsons) are so skilled and made me feel beautiful. I wish I could have them do my make up and hair every day! The meal in Rock Salt Noosa was not only great value but also just ridiculously good food! Many of our guests said it was the best meal they’d ever had!”

The Proposal

“One night we had a spontaneous date night and after dancing to our favourite song on a candlelit balcony Chris dropped to one knee, pulled out a ring and asked if I’d marry him.”

Why I Married Chris

“He’s my best friend and the best team mate I could ask for to travel through life with.”

Advice for Future Brides

“Try to relax and not worry about the tiny details. You’re the only one that notices them and the most important thing is that you enjoy the process and your day.”

The Music

“Music is one of my biggest passions and we took a lot of time curating the music we wanted. I walked down the aisle to ‘Welcome Home, Son‘ by Radical Face, we signed the register to Vance Joy’s ‘Mess is Mine‘ and walked back down the aisle to our favourite song ‘Young Volcanoes‘ by Fall Out Boy.”

Check out my playlist full of songs you might like to walk down the aisle to. These are a collection of suggestions from real brides, and some of my own suggestions. – Sally, The Bride’s Tree editor.
