Our First Encounter(s)
We met in Highschool in Grade 10 when I had just moved town. I always remember him being the funny one. He claims to have seen me before then, at the town pool during the school holidays before we started Grade 10, apparently I didn’t look too bad! But I don’t remember.
Young Love
He used to walk me home from house parties when we were under age, or his Mum would come and pick us up. We stayed in contact but drifted in and out throughout Highschool and the following years, then started dating properly when we were 19 and I was living in Brisbane. I moved back to Blackwater for work, and neither of us had a license, so his Mum would come and pick me up from Blackwater so we could spend the weekends together.
Getting Serious
I moved back to Emerald, and we moved in together six months later, getting our little fur baby Florence. A few years later we bought a house, bought another fur baby Ronald, and booked a five-week long Europe trip.
Travels + Spontaneous Engagement
We had booked a Yacht Week tour through Croatia with some of our friends, including a ‘White Night Party’. We both got a little tipsy and were enjoying each other’s company, eventually losing the rest of the group! We decided to make our way back to the water taxi, and were walking along the night markets. Brendan noticed a cute pearl ring, and decided to buy it. While waiting for the water taxi Brendan asked me to marry him. I couldn’t help but laugh, and told him to stop being silly. He gave me the pearl ring and we were quick to tell the rest of our friends and surrounding yachts when we got back to the jetty!
Our trip led us to Rome, when we were touring around the Vatican and noticed a Diamond Shop. We agreed to find the ‘real ring’ together. So we went in and chose my engagement ring, and picked it up the next day. Brendan got down on one knee and asked me to marry him again in the loft of our Airbnb on the outskirts of Rome.
We’ve been engaged four years now! And are so excited to become husband and wife next month.
