No longer satisfied with being told they can choose the cake flavour and show up shaved on the day, grooms want it to be their day as well. I’m so here for it!
That’s why I set about putting together a stellar team of Sunshine Coast wedding pros to design a Groom’s experience that makes him feel spoiled, pampered and part of the proceedings in a meaningful way.

STEP ONE – THE GROOMING OF THE GROOM
Groom’s Haircut, Shave and Facial Specialists
Kick off with a wedding morning, or day-before grooming session that will see him transform from scruffy to suave with the help of Julia from HIS Barbery & Lifestyle.
Our gorgeous groom model, Fabien, was in the chair for not just your average cut and shave. Julia gave him a classic style fit for the most dashing of grooms and clean lines so sharp they would give you a papercut.
The Full Experience
Being treated to the full pamper experience is what it’s all about. Julia keeps a fridge stocked with favourite local craft beers (did you know the Sunshine Coast is the craft beer capital of Australia?) and Fabien was pampered within an inch of his life with a Restore and Relax Facial. This involved a facial steam to open up his pores, a mask treatment, and a delicious facial massage with essential oil infused products designed to nourish the skin. His noticeable post-treatment glow completed the wedding-ready groom pampering session.

Created specifically ahead of our shoot, The Neon Lady, custom designed the barbery’s new “Tru to Self” signage. At their Sunshine Coast workshop, they design and create the highest quality neon signage for businesses and brands, as well as special occasions – like weddings!

STEP TWO – GIVE HIM SUSTENANCE
Mobile Bar + Espresso
Our friends from Tipple & Bean came along to elevate the experience for our groom. Not only do they make a mean espresso with all their staff being talented and qualified Baristas, they also make the best cocktails.
The bar itself is a sleek black dream, adding sophisticated old world charm with a modern edge to any occasion. Imagine starting the day with espressos all round for the bridal party, and then bringing the bar to the guests as they gather for your ceremony. It’s a great way to BYO your beverages while maintaining that professional service and RSA.
Tipple and Bean offer a range of packages from 2, 3, 5 and 6 hours, depending on the requirements for your occasion. Custom packages for longer hours can be arranged upon request.
Starting the Day Off Right
When you wake up in the countryside serenity of the cottages at Yandina Station, you’ll want to take a few moments to relax on the verandah and enjoy the outlook to the sprawling paddocks as far as the eye can see. You might even spot their majestic white Brahman cattle grazing by the dam.
You’ll be treated to a hearty breakfast platter to set your day off right. Seasonal fruits, coffee, juice and yummy pastries will fill his tummy, making sure any pre-ceremony beverages are well prepared for!
STEP THREE – GET THE LOOK
Groom’s Suit + Wedding Fashion Accessories
His suit is important, and we’ll get to that. But let’s talk accessories. I want to draw your attention to the meticulously selected jewellery and accessories in the men’s formal fashion looks you’re about to enjoy… devour… delight in.
Fabien has been dressed by Brisbane-based menswear Black Jacket Suiting in a carefully curated selection of looks, which are styled to perfection with their matching shoes and belts. For every groom purchase and hire, they also supply socks (genius – I can’t tell you how many grooms and groomsmen forget to bring black socks to the wedding!), cufflinks and a thoughtful gift of a bottle opener. Our friends at Maleny Jewellers brought the looks together with jewellery and watches to complement the tone and style. This first black and grey ensemble, for example, was paired with a beautiful black watch. The European style is chic with the streamlined open-collared black shirt and pants, shiny black shoes and watch, topped off with the grey suit jacket.
STEP FOUR – LOVE LANGUAGE TIME
Gift for Groom
Make his day with a gorgeous gift. One of the aforementioned watches from Maleny Jewellers would make an ideal wedding day gift for any groom – especially one that would pair with his suit.

The results speak for themselves – as does the reaction from our groom model! Although these weren’t even images of Fabien’s own wifey for lifey, he still very much delighted in the surprise package.

Men’s Wedding Fashion
Moving on to a black tie look for the classic groom with a twist on the traditional black tuxedo jacket, here opting for a navy look. It’s equally chic, yet that little bit softer and allows our groom to stand out from the crowd. This look would look fabulous to allow the groom to shine while the groomsmen kept it traditional in all black. Amping up the look, we styled this attire with gold jewellery and a mixed metal watch.
