Frolicking on the beach in their own private love bubble, Zak and Shaylea’s engagement shoot yielded the most stunning, natural images. Their photographer, Mallory Sparkles (yes, that’s her real name!), has a knack for capturing loved-up couples in a way that is completely authentic. Shaylea has shared her experience below.
You look like you’re having a lot of fun with your shoot! What did you most enjoy about it?
The whole thing honestly, we were able to be focused on each other in engagement bliss, while laughing and adventuring to get the most beautiful photos.
Did getting in front of the camera come naturally?
Absolutely not, we are both so awkward and never usually get our photo taken, but Mallory was wonderful and able to get us out of our comfort zone and feel so natural and comfortable.
How did you meet?
We originally met in high school, we were in the same class and saw each other every day, but stuck to (being) friends. A couple years out of school, Zak sent a message on social media, we met up, and that was that!
Tell me about The Proposal.
Zak had booked a room for us on the gold coast for my birthday. We were going out to dinner and Zak insisted on making a stop off at the beach, he blindfolded me, spread out a heap of rose petals, set the camera up and got down on one knee! (It was) half expected, but still incredibly perfect.
How was it working with Mallory?
Amazing! We felt so comfortable and had so much fun. We were able to be ourselves and just be in the moment with each other while Mallory captured the most incredible photos. We can not say enough amazing things about Mallory.
Did getting engagement photos before help on your wedding day?
Yes! We got our awkwardness in front of the camera out of the way and felt completely comfortable with Mallory on the (wedding) day having already met her previously.
